John Young is an award winning luthier who has been making violins since 1989. He began his study of the violin while attending the string instrument program at Red Wing Technical College in Minnesota. John continued his education at the Violin School of America in Salt Lake City, graduating in 1993.

Since 1996 John has placed in the top 3% of competitors in the VSA International Violin Competition.
Most recently he received a workmanship certificate for 5th place out of 246 violins in 2014.

John’s clientèle includes Elmar Oliveira, Robert Mann, Svi Zeitlin, Frank Huang….
